Marimel S. Tilley, O.D.
A native of Vallejo, Calif., became a Louisiana resident when she enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. Following an honorable discharge, she graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree from LSU and later that year received a second bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Tilley received her doctorate degree in optometry with honors from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. She joined the Willis-Knighton eye group, WK Eyes, in 2012.
Dr. Tilley provides pre and postoperative care for cataract and LASIK surgery patients. She has a special interest in ocular diseases such as dry eyes, glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration. Dr. Tilley provides comprehensive eye examinations with a specialty in contact lens fittings for patients with irregular corneas such as keratoconnus, post corneal transplant and post refractive surgery.
Dr. Tilley is therapeutically licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometric Association of Louisiana.
While at Barksdale as an enlisted airman, Dr. Tilley served as an allergy/immunology technician for the 2nd Medical Group at Barksdale Air Force Base. In 2007, she became a commissioned officer and optometrist for the 307th(FKA 917th) Medical Squadron there. She has travelled and trained at many military installations including Sheppard Air Force Base, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Walter-Reed Army Hospital, Bethesda Naval Hospital and Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base. She is currently on inactive ready reserve status for the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Dr. Tilley and her husband, Jim, who is retired from the Air Force, reside in Bossier City.
